in Religion, Science

You only have to go to one room in this particular museum in order to get the gist of what’s going to be said in all the other rooms. How many museums, after all, have a (Room 12) Bible Authority Room?

The Bible is true. No doubt about it! Paul explains God’s authoritative Word, and everyone who rejects His history — including six-day creation and Noah’s Flood — is “willfully” ignorant.

You wonder why the folks at the Creation Museum bothered building any of the other displays.

I ought not poke fun at the sincerely held beliefs of others, but while I realize that the scientific community can be as political and pig-headed at any others, rarely will you find a room at an actual science and natural history museum dedicated to explaining why X is the unquestioned and perpetual authority on any given subject, and how anyone who rejects X is being “‘willfully’ ignorant.”

Though I have to admit I really want to visit Room 28:

How did they care for all those animals for over a year? Uncover clues to how Noah’s family did it.

Great. Nothing like a good coffee nose flushing to perk one up mid-morning … :-)

“rarely will you find a room at an actual science … museum … explaining why X is the unquestioned and perpetual authority”

Rarely? I don’t think I’ve ever found such a room. Though I don’t rule out the possibility that one exists in some science museum someplace, I can’t say that I’ve ever heard of it. Have you? ;-)

No, I just hate to state absolutes.

The closest I can think of (in this context) is a bust in a museum rotunda of Scientist X — let’s say Charles Darwin — identifying him and and lauding him for “his contribution to our knowledge of the natural world through his Theory of Evolution.”

Some folks might see that as the same thing. I don’t.

Why do they put the quote marks around “willfully”?

It surpasseth all understanding.

The ignorant often use quotation marks for emphasis. It amuses me to see somebody offer a “low” price, as the quotation marks make it look as if they are admitting that they know the price isn’t really low.

Dave, if that’s not a typo in the title, it must be a quote, but I’m not familiar with it. A quick Google search indicates that it might be from South Park (ick). Is that it?

What a scary place! Especially room #36 Just For Kids: Everywhere you turn, science confirms the biblical account! WTH?

Avocet: Yup. Not through personal watching, but absorbed through osmosis from others around me.

Joy: Yup. It would be interesting to follow up that assertion, but I suspect I’d rather visit there first than simply walk in with Kitten.

Yes, Rey and I have been a bad influence on you…
