More moves and changes on the HD-DVD vs Blu-ray front, as Warners stop supporting both hi-def DVD format.  That makes all of the major studios swinging one way or the other, rather than splitting the difference.  And there’s a definite tilt (and tint) to that support: 70% of output from the major studios (Warners, Sony, Disney, Fox, MGM, Lionsgate) are now Blu-ray only, though on the other side, Paramount and Universal aren’t to be discounted.

While the displays of hi-def DVD in the store (having spent a lot of time at Best Buy recently) are very pretty — almost too pretty, lending a video-tape crispness to filmed work — I haven’t felt any compulsion to jump one way or another until this is all settled.  DVD continues to work fine for me, and I expect it will for a few years yet, at least.

I’m in the Blu-Ray camp, but only because I bought a PS3. Which, oddly enough, is considered the best Blu-Ray player on the market at the moment. Seeing as I have it I’ve started buying Blu-Ray movies so one more studio going Blu-Ray only is fine with me. :-)

Sadly, I don’t have an HDTV yet so the advantage to the Blu-Ray is lost until I get one, but when I do I’ll be all set.

BTW - It appears that MT4 doesn’t like TypeKey, or it’s not quite implemented correctly. It was giving me a NEED EMAIL ADDRESS AND NAME error when I was signed in. Had to sign out to post this.

I’ve been having problems with the TypeKey code lately on this site. I didn’t explicitly test it when I did the upgrade. Another reason I need to seriously redo the templates.
