Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….
- GOP plans on reintroducing legislation to ban and deport immigrants from ‘terrorist’ countries. – Given that this wouldn’t have had any effect on the two most recent incidents, one can only assume that this is simply (a) fearmongering, (b) grandstanding, (c) racism / prejudice, (d) all of the above.
- Liz Cheney Airs Hypocritical Attack Ad On Obama For Waiting ‘100 Hours’ To Respond To Terror Plot: Faiz Shakir
- Report: Ford’s new cars will read out Twitter – It seems to me that having Twitter read to you is going to be frustrating if you can’t Tweet or ReTweet. Which means it’s going to be closer to th distractions from a mobile phone than the radio. Which is a Bad Thing.
- “Clothes, food, shelter: Satisfy these first, then teach people to be human.” – Good advice, and timeless.
- Imams issue fatwa: Attacks on US, Canada are attacks against Muslims – Well, that’s rather refreshing. Bet you it gets minimum publicity, though (nor do I expect it to have much effect on those staging such attacks).
- Facebook’s Zuckerberg Says The Age of Privacy is Over – If so, it’s because FB is pushing it that way, not because they are responding. People have changed what they consider private, yes, but they still have boundaries that they expect to have control over (and knowledge of).
- Doctorow, How to Destroy the Book – Money graf: “Anyone who claims that readers can’t and won’t and shouldn’t own their books are bent on the destruction of the book, the destruction of publishing, and the destruction of authorship itself.”
