My needs are simple.  Well, no, they probably aren't.

What I’m looking for from my next MMORPG | Blog of Heroes
Okay, while I'm still in mourning about City of Heroes, I want to set down what's made it so special, in a way that looks forward to the next MMO Margie and I

  1. Have you tried SWTOR? It is pretty decent overall (especially if you avoid the grindish non-story missions). It seems to fit your requirements quite well, imo. I'd play, but I've all but given up on sub models because I always feel like I'm not getting my money's worth.

  2. The only thing I can think of is that, currently, the end-game comes pretty fast. I mean, you can literally grind it in a week or so if you are seriously dedicated to only the storyline missions. There's only 4 storyline missions per side (with a story per companion too), and I think you can only have 4 characters (I forget), so you can slam through the entire thing pretty fast. In general the stories are pretty decent, if star wars is your thing.

  3. One problem with the new gen MMO’s is that they made levelling so easy that you get to the end game waaaay to quickly. CoX and EQ2 had great risk to reward ratio lvelling, and it took you a long to get to level cap, the new games not so much. AoC, CO, STO and SWTOR have very easy levelling and no penalties to dying, which is a mistake IMHO. I am sure that if I played SWTOR as much as I played CoX and EQ2 I would have levelled all 8 classes by now, but since I’m not I find the pace to b fine.

One problem that all MMO’s have is the so called “end game” which is nothing more than saying “You hated grinding so much at low level, we will make you uber grind in missions that need to have 8-32 people spend an afternoon so that 4 of you can get a shiney toy”…otherwise known as raiding.

SWTOR is not perfect, but it is better than several of the others out there. I am curious as to what GW2 is like and may have to see what it is like some day soonish.

  4. I'm very happy with SWTOR and I think it would fit the bill for you based on what you stated in your blog post.  I've been playing it since launch and, given my limited amount of playing time, have not come anywhere near close to the end-game.  Let me know if you do decide to go with it and if you set up on my server I'll be happy to help you out.
