Les is my kind of atheist

Les is an atheist. I am not.

And yet, I find myself at least 98.47% in agreement with him on all of the below, and conversely against Mr. (and, perhaps, Mrs.) Ripka.  Because I've taken the time to know Les, and I haven't assumed up front the worst about him, and, in fact, we both share a profound commonality in focusing on how people treat each other, not what theological / philosophical basis they have for doing so.

Even where we disagree, we do so with respect.  Les may consider me, at some level, delusional, and I may consider him, at some level, in error, but neither of us consider each other an existential threat, and we see in each other a common humanity that led the Samaritan to care for the injured Jew.

And, y'know, regardless of faith, if we all made an effort to be that way, the world would be ever so much nicer a place.
