Woo-hoo! Parts of California are only "Abnormally Dry"

Despite some heavy rainstorms, California has a long way to go before leaving "Drought" (let alone "Severe Drought" or "Extreme Drought").

How much more rain does California need to end the drought?
The two weeks of rain have helped, but it’s not nearly enough.

  1. I took a photo of Stevens Creek Reservoir back in July when I was there – it was basically empty, bar a puddle or two in the bottom. Then I took another photo of it on Friday, and it now seems like it is maybe getting on for half full. Still a long way to go, and I can imagine that other, larger reservoirs are a lot more stricken than that.

  2. I haven't seen any pictures post-rain of Lake San Antonio, but I have to imagine it's multiple storm before moderate recovery. Especially bearing in mind that, unless the walls of a lake are sheer, each increase in depth requires extra water spread out over a greater area.
