Denver Comic Con 2015

Had a great time at the Con today. The floor space was expanded from the previous year (understandable, given they were expecting 100K attendeeds, up from 86K last year.)

I only took a small fraction of the cosplayers I saw. There weren't any drop-dead moments, but a lot of good costuming work going on. Common characters included Black Widow, Deadpool, Silent Bob, and Jack Frost.

Not only were Margie and Kay along, but my mom, too, having planned her visit out here over Memorial Day. We bought her a day pass and she appears to have had a great time. We spent most of the day long with Mary and Stan.

We didn't do anything in the autograph lines, and we didn't do any panels again this year, but we did cover the vendor areas, as well as Artist's Mesa.

Crowds still got pretty thick as the day wore on, even with the added space. I'll be curious to see what the final attendance numbers are.

Only one negative to the day. After dealing with a line that snaked around the convention center, when the doors opened they allowed folk in from all sides, removing much incentive to actually arrive and queue up early in the future.

But that was a minor bit. Overall, it was a lot of fun, and a big success. We still don't draw the Big Two publishers (though some of their smaller competitors were there), and there's no Big Media presence yet. Though we're supposedly the third largest comic con in the nation, I don't expect we'll ever have the prominence of San Diego — nor do I really think we want it. It's just fun times all around, and I'm glad we made it another year.
