We've been having jolly fun watching Miss Fischer's Murder Mysteries on Netflix, based on the Phryne Fisher mysteries by Kerry Greenwood. It's Roaring 20s Australian murder mystery goodness, and Essie Davis does a faboo job as the eponymous liberated aristocrat private investigator. The rest of the cast is damned fine as well
We've just moved on to the 2nd Series, so no spoilers, please, but if you like costume drama, murder mysteries, unexpected views on social issues, or Australian accents, I heartily recommend it.
That Christmas episode was awful but the rest of the series has been great!
Agreed. I really like that show. Just good fun.
(and yes about the Xmas one)
Haven't gotten to a Christmas episode yet, but it's good to know that not every one is a winner. Have to leave the crowd something to criticize. 🙂
Like the show a lot, love the books.
Saw the first series and decided to read the books (all 20 of them). Liked all but 2, and I thought the books were far better than the series. However, I love the actors, and now when I read the books I have pictures of them in my mind, along with all those wonderful costumes and the magnificent sets.
I read Cocaine Blues — can’t remember how I ran across it — and finished it at lunch at work. Wanting more.
Prospectored around (Colo library alliance website), found the next 4 on shelf at 3 libraries on the way (a long way, but a way) home, picked them up. Then the next 4, and the next…
Got ’em all on Kindle now.
The Corinna Chapman books are good too.
