One day later … sharp imagery, snappy performance, great battery life, superior antenna.
At least compared to my first gen Moto X.
Only two things I miss from said Moto X:
1. The minute-interval flash of the time and notification icons when the phone was asleep. I don't think there's an easy substitute for that.
2. The Motorola location-based utility that let me easily turn off sound when at given locations. I know there are a variety of apps available to do that, but none of them have seemed quite a easy to use.
But all that said — no regret so far. It's all about moving into a new, better home, dealing with temporary inconveniences while figuring out how best to arrange the furniture.
Concerning (2.) think of using an App? Like llama or Tasker?
I downloaded Tasker. Started playing with it, and felt like i was tweaking a 1990 config.sys file.
+Dave Hill when you want the machine do what you want, you have to tell it. Otherwise the machine tells you what it wants.
+Frank Nestel Yeah, but I'm looking for a simple way (a la the Moto app on my previous phone) to say, "Hey, when I am HERE, turn the speaker OFF."
+Dave Hill So many notions? What is HERE, what is "speaker off" (vibration or none etc.) Actually I use Llama, which is much more restricted than Tasker. But I know now simpler solution.
Glad you like it! I've been testing for a while and found the Pixel battery life to be truly excellent – after 7 a.m. off-charger, 45 minute trip using Bluetooth headphones and WiFi hotspot and a day out the office, reverse trip, I'm seeing 60% battery left at 10 p.m.
+Frank Nestel Giving Llama a try. Still a very 90s interface, but a bit clearer than Tasker.
+Dave Hill you make me feel old 😉 Good luck!
