Katherine’s hungry for dinner.
“Do you want some yogurt?”
“No!”
“Do you want some leftover cheesy potatoes?”
“No!”
“Do you want –?”
“In here!” She pulls on the doors to the pantry.
Margie nods at me sagely. “She wants applesauce.”
Nope. She pulls out a package of Thai Kitchen Bangkok Curry from the pantry shelf. I look at Margie.
“She must have seen me eating some at lunch.”
So we cook it up. And she hoovers it.
Margie gets the credit/blame for this, but I remain impressed by Katherine’s eclectic tastes in food.
And to think that I made Thai Kitchen Pad Thai just last night, messing up extra pots and pans to keep the girls’ portion unsullied by eggplant or chiles, only to have my littlest princess turn up her nose at it because she doesn’t like “red noodles”. If it isn’t white bread, fruit, or a dairy product, she doesn’t like it. Sigh…
Mercifully, Katherine has avoided pickiness. Not to say that she doesn’t have preferences and caprices at any given mealtime, but it’s always about wanting something in particular, not turning up her nose at any particular class of food. We count ourselves lucky.
