After you get enough “legitimate” junk mail and security bulletins from Microsoft, the bogus viral ones begin to stand out.
Hence my not being fooled by an e-mail from “MS Security Services” subject “Last Microsoft Critical Patch” — nor by another one the same day from “Microsoft” subject “Last Net Critical Patch.”
Yup. A known virus (or, more properly, worm).
(This one will stop security processes, then mail itself to e-mail addresses on your machine).
I’m not quite sure how to advise people to be careful with these things. I mean, M$ does send out security updates by mail. The best I can suggest is be smart. Typos, grammar errors, lack of capitalization are usually good signs. Searching on places like Symantec and McAfee are also good ideas.
