Yeah! Just what we always suspected! Management types score high in many of the descriptors for psychopathy, but are low in the parts that will really get them thrown in jail (like going out and openly murdering people). But they’re all crazy, I tell you! Evil crazy! They just cover it up well! You can’t trust those management types! You just can’t!
Bosses are “successful psychopaths”
Yeah! Just what we always suspected! Management types score high in many of the descriptors for psychopathy, but are low in the parts that will really get them thrown in…
Based on the Flats years, I’d have disagreed strongly with the second part of the statement.
Example 1: Throwing a full coffee mug at a subordinate that disagreed with the person in upper management.
Example 2: Beating someone with a three-ring binder to the point of breaking their arm.
Both managers were in fact promoted after these incidents.
…Or as I told Randy; David Brendt would’ve fit right in at the Flats.
I’d consider the Flats to be somewhat atypical for a variety of reasons. Certainly I’d expect that anyone in my company who did such a thing would be booted out (gracefully or not).
Okay, calm down, IT Manager Dave. We’re all friends here. No reason to get excited.
Now, some nice men in clean white coats are going pay you a little visit. Nothing to worry about… Just stay calm, okay?
I knew my manager was psycho. Didn’t realize it was a pre-req.
