Okay, as a general note, it’s probably unfair to take a 4-year-old to a party store and expect something other than hummingbird-with-ADD behavior, flitting from item to item like … well, a kid in a candy store, to slightly mix the metaphor.

But with Katherine’s 5th coming up this month, we’re running behind in our planning and scheduling for her party (which, this time, will include Multiple Kids, and, likely, an offsite location). And one of the de rigeur items is the theme. Said theme could be generic (pirates, butterflies), or it could be branded (Strawberry Shortcake, GI Joe).

After a great deal of flitting about, the answer for this year’s theme is:

Scooby-Doo.

Don’t ask me why. The big mutt won out over Disney Princesses, Justice League, and any number of other more likely candidates. Though she enjoys the cartoon (and, cough, the movies) well enough.

Anyway, Scooby it is.

  1. (Rrg. Just lost a whole slew of these).

Locations for party (if not at home), as expressed by Katherine or extrapolated by us (and dependent on numbers, etc.):

    • Chuck E. Cheese
    • Little Gym
    • McDonalds (local one has a party room and a Play Place)
    • Local rec center.

Going to one of these other places has the advantage of Built-In Entertainment (and request from Kitten). Dis-ads include limitation of decorations (which could be an advantage), limits on activities (no “party games” beyond what the location does), and cost. Esp. depending on the numbers invited.
