Bits and pieces that I don’t have time to develop into full posts this morning.

  1. DOF on the “authority gradient” and how it played into the worst aviation disaster on record. I need to see if that Nova is repeating any time soon.
  2. Mr. Les Goes to Starbucks for the first time (and what he discovered there).
  3. No more Vegemite Sandwiches for Americans. Really.

  1. Nova always does great shows.

PBS had one years ago dealing with the same kind of problem concerning a plane that crashed into the Andies. The problem involed the Jet Stream (unknown at that time) slowing the plane down while flying in clouds. A crew was use to doing things based on timing, and everything said it was time to descend to the airport….and instead they flew right into the side of a mountain.

The Mystery was solved when pieces of the plane and passengers started to come out of a Glacer.
