Unlike many, I’ve not been able to plow 24×7 through the newest HP book — my evening hours have been taken up with various activities, and my home reading has been focused on prep for the Blogathon.  My reading time has been (mostly) work lunch hours.

I have gotten a bit over half-way through the book, and I have to say it feels the best of the series to date — bad things are happening to good people, there’s plenty of outrage on a scale beyond Hogwarts school politics, menace and angst abound, sacrifices are being made, folks are taking their stand against the big threat, and Harry seems to be finally (after the standard whining and self-pity) getting his freaking act together.  From the get-go, it’s been clear that there are no guarantees that anyone will actually make it out of this alive … which adds a level of suspense we’ve not seen before.

Good stuff.  Can’t wait to finish it up.
