I’m not sure I can handle being on the winning side in an election (as rare an event as that seems to be), but Obama gathered two-thirds of the Colorado Democatic vote, giving him 37 of the state’s 56 delegates. There are also 14 “superdelegates” (high level party and state officials) who get to vote as they please — so far, four each have committed to Obama and Clinton.

Evidently, turn-out was very high, far higher than predicted, and even more so for Dems than the GOP. (I love the quotes from disgruntled GOP folks attributing the high turn-outs to “liberals” and “desperation.”) BD has a fun statistic:

Amusing. This morning the Head of the Colorado Democratic Party said that she was expecting at least 3 times the amount that Caucused in ’00 (5,000) for a total of 15,000. As of 11:00pm the total atteneding the Demcratic Caucus’ was 117,656. 10 times the amount that she had hoped for.

Hmmm. You’d almost think having a primary race still in play and seven years of disastrous political soap opera in Washington was getting folks fired up or something …
