Since Katherine has expressed an interest in D&D (and played in a couple of generic D&D 4e games Doyce has run), we’re slowly (given interruptions of other things like business trips and vacations) starting up a Home D&D Group.

To wit, Katherine, Margie and I will generate characters, and the Margie and I will trade off GMing while Katherine plays her character and the other adult player runs the other two.

Katherine, going with what she knows, has decided another Halfling Rogue is the bee’s knees (though she did toy with some other possibilities). Current plans are Margie with a Dragonborn Warlord, and myself with a Half-Elven Paladin.

The plan is to have a weekly (say Wednesday night) D&D family game.

If we pull this off, I’ll be very tickled.

  1. Thats great! Wish I could find all my old books. We used to keep all the books in a milk crate and cart it around to wherever we were playing..not sure who has the old milkcrate now..

  2. I still have all my 1st edition stuff in two large boxes on the floor of my Gaming Closet. Sadly, my old Champions rulebook, c. 1981, has disappeared.

  3. Based on MY old Champs stuff, I think it’s likely that old book disintigrated. I love Hero Games, but their books did have some longevity problems!
(In all sincerity, my condolences on the loss of your book. I know the gaming table memories that are, often literally, etched into the pages!)

  4. The only rule book I still have is ‘Gamma World’…and the only reason I have it is becuase we only playued two or three times. I’m irked too because I also had the Dieties and Demi-god book with Cthulhu mythos..I used to love just browsing through that book…

  5. I have character sheets for my kids in my purse, along with two vials of minidice…you know, in case we’re stuck in line, or have the time. It’s just gauging the attention factor for the 4 & 5 year olds.
