The cold snap and snow weekend before last has really done a number on the cottonwoods in the neighborhood. In the last few days, they’ve been dropping tons of leaves. That’s not unusual for this time of year, but the leaves dropping haven’t really turned yet. They’re still mostly green, a bit dried and crispy around the edges, but not yet turned to the lovely yellow that gives the light this time a year such a lovely golden color.
There are still plenty of leaves up there, and I’m hoping we’ll get some good color change yet, but in the meantime … well, Margie swept up three big trash cans of leaves this morning before the garbage collectors arrived, and there’s still much more than that still surrounding and covering the cars on the driveway.
Better get my rake ready for the weekend.
