- Oh, boy! Snow today, 3-6" accumulation for the Denver Metro Area! A great day to be jaunting to and from the hospital! #
- In perspective, Margie's injury and hospitalization is not life-threatening. But seeing her in pain is profoundly unpleasant. Want to fix. #
- Talked with M this morning – sounds in good spirits, getting on well with staff. Available for calls if any want to contact me for number. #
- Used Margie's accident as a "safety minute" on management call this a.m. Some small good from it, I guess. #
- Good news: M is "next in line" for surgery. Bad news: that's looking like mid-late-afternoon. Good possibility will still overnight there. #
- At the hospital. M being plied with calls fr friends, family, all appreciated. Jackie came by w flowers. Michelle sent balloon, treats. . #
- Still "next in line" for surgery, no ETA. Est after pre-op is 2-3h surgery + 1h post-op recovery before I can see her again. #
- Hrm. 3 o'clock and no pre-op yet. Still, staff seems much more with it than last night. M was even visited by a nun. #
- Down to Pre-Op in 5 minutes. That was 20 minutes ago, but still a good sign. #
- Doc says new cast will be below the knee, rather than above the knee as her splint has been. Woot! #
- Still in Pre-Op. Previous surgery still in OR having complications. For a variety of reasons, I hope they uncomplicate swiftly. #
- Darn pushy emergencies! Why should bowel injuries and internal bleeding bump my precious wife's broken ankle from the OR queue? Unfair! #
- Just kidding. Aggravating for us, but worse for them. May get bumped to first thing tomorrow a.m., but won't know for an hour. Sigh. #
- Aaaaand … Still in Pre-Op. Not optimistic. #
- Bad news: no op tonight. Worse news: Doc says NFW we are fkying to Calif next Thurs. Too soon for post-op exam, cast; worries about clots. #
- So won't be there for 50th Anniv. M is really upset. Plus hasn't eaten today, and may be past "real" food time. Sucky suckitude of suckness. #
- Cuurent plans seem to be surgery tomorrow at 7:30a, back to her room around 10ish. Most likely be here tomorrow night, too. #
- Some food, Percocet, comforting and time, and M's OK for the night. She's exhasusted. I'm to home, back in a.m. post-op (I hope). Whew. #

So, just the trip to Cali, or the entire thing including Hawaii? If it were just the Cali leg, you could just drive or take the train.
Glad the surgery went well, the rest of it sucks. 🙁
