- Smith Gardens are an OK private arboretum. Imu ceremony was nice. Dinner was very tasty, setting institutional, entertainment good. #
- Smith's big luau show was old school Pacific Rim fun. Theatrical, but in a 50s way, along with a frisson of x-cultural realism. I approve. #
- Smith's mai-tais were bottomless but barely deserving of name. If you told me they were virgin, I'd believe it. Too many mediocre mai-tais! #
- Or maybe it's that mediocre mai-tais are inherently worse than mediocre margaritas, mojitos, caipiranhas, daiquiris. Let's not test that. #

- While the mynahs I know of are black, the ubiquitous ones here are brown with white hidden in wingfeathers. Unmistakeably same beaks, tho. #
- That was one fine mai-tai. Excellent rum, good mix. From scratch would be better, but a reasonable compromise. Plus, lovely view from lanai. #
- And then, the deluge: gusts, downpour, etc. There's a reason you don't see sprinkler systems here in Poipu. Island center gets 460"/yr. #
- Little tour boat bobbing through waves and rain offshore. Looks disturbingly like the SS Minnow. Hope they packed a few trunks of clothes! #
- Weather has cleared, but heavy clouds, rain to the SE means no lovely sunset. Ah,well. Pleasantly cool and restful regardless. #
