Kinda cool/scary email from my city councilman:
Loud Noise and Traffic Disruptions
On 20 April, there will be an emergency services drill at Centennial Airport that will test the ability of the airport to handle a huge incident in another city that will send many patients to hospitals in the Denver metro area.
The exercise will be a full equipment set-up at Signature Flight Support and will include the reception, treatment and transportation of simulated patients. The patients will physically be transported via air and ground to fifteen NDMS supporting hospitals in the North Central Region from Denver to Loveland CO.
There will be numerous large helicopters, ambulances and other transportation modes in use, all creating a huge amount of noise and possible traffic disruptions around the airport and highways.“Patients” (volunteers) will be transported to the following NDMS Hospitals for this exercise.
Sky Ridge Medical Center
Littleton Hospital
Parker Adventist Hospital
Platte Valley Medical Center
Presbyterian St Luke’s Medical Center
Longmont United Hospital
Medical Center of the Rockies
St Anthony Center Hospital
The Children’s Hospital
Lutheran Medical Center
Medical Center of Aurora South
North Suburban medical Center
St Anthony North Hospital
Swedish Medical Center
University of Colorado Hospital
The exercise will start at 5 am on 20 April. We’re talking rush hour disruptions.
The scenario is:An Earthquake has occurred at Blytheville, Arkansas along the New Madrid fault. Disaster declared and FCC Denver is alerted to receive NDMS patients from Blytheville, Arkansas. People are being evacuated for medical care.
Do not be alarmed, but be ready for the disruption.
I think it’s great that they’re drilling in such a realistic fashion. Darn — I won’t be at the Dry Creek Station at 5:30a to watch the festivities to the east.
