Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….
- Arizona Ruins GOP Primary Schedule – Okay, this should be entertaining. (Ditto if we see similar shenanigans on the Dem side.)
- Greed and self-interest is really not its own reward – Socialist!
- A chance to recognize what we’ve done to ourselves…and make a difference – I agree with much of this — but my first impression was that it was historically short-sighted. Many of the sentiments here are echoes of the Manichaen Cold War against the Commies — the hatred, the xenophobia, the fear. But that era drove us to competitive greatness, as exemplified by the Space Race. Today it seems that our fears are driving us inward, to lessening our country. Rather than it’s all of Us (except for those pink Quislings among us), now it’s every man for himself, and don’t you dare raise my taxes to help someone other than me.
- Peter King Laments First Amendment, Wants ‘Better Controls’ On Facebook, Twitter, And The Internet – Curse you, Pesky First Amendment!
- The 5 Most Astounding Facts From the Census Poverty Report – Derek Thompson – Business – The Atlantic – And not happy astounding facts, by any means.
- How Will Shortz Edits a New York Times Crossword Puzzle – Alex Hoyt – Entertainment – The Atlantic – I enjoy an occasional crossword, esp. on air flights. Nothing too hard, but I like it to be a bit of a challenge.
