***Dave Does the Comics – Issue 23 (8 Jan 2012)

Back once again after a holiday weeks hiatus, my biggest problem this outing was I had a monstrous stack of comics from my pull box waiting for me. I didn’t manage to get them all read, but I hit the ones I wanted most to go through … and from there, I still had to winnow it down to just the best-of-the-best, the 4- and 5-star winners for the week.

So … it’s all good stuff here this time out. Hover over the covers below to see the ratings out of 5 stars (with an occasional comment). And scroll to the end for the podcast playback button.

Batwoman #4 - Best Cover of the Weeks
Young Justice #11 - Best Young Folk Comic of the Weeks (and a darned fine RAG tale, too)
Secret Avengers #20 - Best Comic of the Weeks
Complete Battlefields Vol. 1 - Best TPB Read These Weeks

Whew! And all of that in 14:30. I must have talked really fast!

    1. @BD – Thanks for the pronunciation update. I got to that comic, started talking, and realized I had no idea the right way to pronounce it. Hmmmm … looking it up, it appears to be from (duh) “gem”, so roughly the equivalent of someone named “Jewel” in the US (it’s popular in the UK, Italy and Spain).

“Night Witches” and the second, Pacific theater, story were the best from the TPB (which you are welcome to borrow if you like at some point). The third “Tankies” story was more traditional Ennis, though still quite good.
