Yeah, I know there are other important issues out there

I mean, "It's the economy, stupid," and religious freedom and civil rights and all of that.

But let's not forget some less sexy but also key (as in survival-oriented) issues like, oh, clean drinking water and a planet that's not too hot to support human civilization. Those things count, too. #ddtb

GOLDEN — A day before Republicans voice their presidential preferences in Colorado caucuses, Rick Santorum dismissed climate change as “a hoax” and advocated an energy plan heavy on fossil fuels.

  1. And, for the record, both candidates statements, here in my own home state, are fully of sheer insanity, or else mendacity. I think Santorum really believes the crazy things he's saying; I don't think Gingrich does, but he knows it stirs up anger, votes, and book sales. I'm not sure which of the two is, on that basis, more dangerous.

  2. I listened to Romney this morning, and just wondered how many other people listening realized his plan for “America to become more competitive” is to make us like, well, China. I work in a quasi-governmental agency that is constantly receiving new interpretations of regulations intended not to “stifle business” but to protect people (as well as the interests of invested money (“from fraud.”)) But think! We’ll all have jobs… making about $8 an hour if we’re lucky.

    1. @Fierce – Yes! If we just lower wages and benefits and regulations to the Chinese level, then we can compete with them! Sure, nobody will be able to afford the goods we produce, but, hey, that’s okay — the big money is in exports anyway! It’s a win-win!
