So, yes, GM is losing $40K on every Volt it sells (cue Dr. Evil) … if you amortize the entire plant against just the vehicles sold so far. Which no car company does when figuring out whether they are making or losing money, but which apparently makes some people feel better about electric cars being a failure or gasoline cars being the salvation of the world or gasoline being the wave of the future or something..
