100 Years Ago, The 1913 Women's Suffrage Parade – 24 photos – http://theatln.tc/Y4bo9B – Less than a century ago, women in the U.S. were not guaranteed the right to vote. In 1913, a massive suffrage parade took place in Washington, D.C., on March 3, the first major national suffrage demonstration. Marchers were ridiculed, tripped, and shoved by a large unruly crowd of mostly men, and the mistreatment of the marchers amplified the event into a major news story. What began in 1913 resulted in the Nineteenth Amendment in 1920.
