Dave Hill’s ★★★★ review of Skyfall (2012) on Letterboxd.com
Quite frankly, this is one of the best, if not the best, Bond films ever made. “Skyfall” walks a number of delicate lines. It has the current Craig legacy of more gritty action films (with the usual c…
Movie Review: "Skyfall" (2012)
Another one from my trip last week. My family has been rewatching the Bond series (introducing my daughter to them), and it's strange going from the nadir of the mid-late Roger Moore era to this, one of the best of the Bond series.

I was disappointed by Skyfall. Everyone said ‘best Bond ever’, and it wasn’t. It was spoiled by the weakness of the plot in the second half- basically one big Batman Gambit by the baddie, that only worked due to a set of co-incidences that he couldn’t have predicted or engineered. All the good work in the first half was ruined.
I agree, @LH, the first half was stronger (plotwise) than the stronger. Or, rather, the middle third was the weakest.
It didn't really feel like a Bond film to me, as it eschews the formula. It was a thoroughly entertaining film, though, and even catered to us long-time fans (you did recognize the number plate on that car, didn't you?). I would recommend this to anybody, bond fan or not.
I think it felt as much like a Bond film as any of the Craig installments have, with actually more reference to the classics.
This is the first of Craig's movies I have enjoyed. The others felt to me like a reboot that wanted to deny the existence of prior Bond films.
