A ★★★★½ review of 1776 (1972)
I’m not a musical guy, but “1776” is so full of historical goodness and political satire that it overcomes the inherent unreality of people breaking into tunes whenever the writer things the action is beginning to drag. Well, the first thing I ever saw him in was an episode of Kolchak: The Night Stalker. His character was an irascible cop who didn't like Kolchak (imagine that!).
