Duplicate duplicate order order

Amazon does a great job of noting, when you go to an item on its pages, "Hey, you ordered a copy of that movie way back in August 2011." That's keen.

But when it comes to pre-orders, it doesn't tell you if you've already bought something in the months that take place between "Movie/book/collection XYZ is coming out!" gets announced and when it actually gets released. Which has all too often meant that I ended up with two (or (cough) more) copies of something. And, yeah, Amazon makes it as easy as humanly possible to return stuff, but it's still a PitA.

Amazon doesn't make it easy to provide suggestions (go to "Help" > "Self-Service" > "Contact Us" and then drill hrough some other subcategories), but I've submitted this one.

(And, yes, #firstworldproblem )

  1. Semi-automatic response from Amazon:

'Thanks so much for your valuable suggestion! Your comments are greatly appreciated, and I thank you for choosing Amazon.com.  I've forwarded your comments regarding pre-order to our concerned departments. We have a dedicated team working relentlessly to implement the feedback back we receive. Your comments will be carefully reviewed as we currently making our improvements. Customer feedback like yours helps us in our endeavor to improve the service we provide, and we're glad you took time to write to us.'

I can't exactly click on "Yes" or "No" in the "Did I solve your problems," but, heck, it's a tick up from a chain letter.

And it included a shortcut for going to ask questions: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/contact-us/general-questions.html
