No it isn't. So long as people keep insisting on pronouncing GIF wrong in spite of the fact that the man who invented the format insists it should be pronounced "JIFF as in the peanut butter" then there's no reason to take the word of the inventor of toilet paper as being the right answer.
Don't be papering over our differences so easily! You can't wipe away all the dirt or flush away all the enmity that's been generated with a patent!
