At the Denver Botanic Gardens, they have a tea house where, on a limited number of occasions each summer, they go through a Japanese Tea Ceremony as an educational program — first as a demonstration (the Usu-cha, or Thin Tea), then a more abbreviated form that some of the small group present for the occasion can participate in.
+Kay Hill and I volunteered for the latter activity (second and third from the front in the picture below), which was very cool and a lot of fun, except that my legs feel completely asleep below the knees, and I had to break pose a bit as we were ending so that I would be able to actually stand up.
Neat thing. Would recommend it if you get the opportunity.
It really was a cool experience. There is something fascinating, and deeply meditative (duh) about being so focused on each ritualistic aspect of an activity.
