Movie Review: "Moana" (2016)

Visually stunning, musically delicious, and full of amazing feels, I liked this movie oodles and oodles. It made me happy.

4.5 stars out of 5, with a heart.

(We watched it in 3D. Worth the extra bucks, and my wife, who has mixed results with 3D movies had no problem with this one.)

  1. Btw, I loved that there wasn't really an "animal sidekick." Heihei is a sight gag, and no more a character than, well, a chicken. And Pua, the pig, though originally supposed to be part of the journey, was wisely left at home (and, even there, simply served more like a cute pet than an autonomous character).

  2. +Yash R Sharma I gave it a half-point downtick for a couple of reasons.

    1. It didn't totally blow me a way with some grand new insight into the world or a challenge to my understanding of life.

    2. The songs were great, and varied, but also inconsistent in tone in some places, and somewhat awkwardly inserted in others.

In other words, it wasn't perfect. But it was damned good.
