Good Lord — I had no idea Bernard Fox was still alive, but I'm still sorry to hear about his passing. Three roles of his that always come to mind:
1. Colonel Crittendon on Hogan's Heroes.
2. Doctor Bombay on Bewitched.
3. Captain Winston Havlock in The Mummy.
In all cases, he played an uber-English, sometimes pompous, witty/jovial, stereotype of the stiff-upper-lip British Empire type. That was true as well with so many of his one-off roles spanning the 50s-80s. He was big, over the top, and therefore memorable.
Thank you, sah (snap one of those open-hand Brit salutes) for many ripping hours of jolly good fun, eh, wot?
