My read on the numbers is that WW had a very strong (but not spectacular) opening weekend, but had enough great word of mouth to draw in an unusually strong second weekend. People who weren't sure, or who thought they'd wait to watch it at home, were hearing all sorts of glowing reviews — and reviews about it as something different that was also good.
Glad to hear it.
Wonder Woman’s Box Office Staying Power Beats Tons of Other Superhero Movies in Week Two
We went this weekend as a family (first viewing for me and Sean and Zoe, 2nd for Kaylee, third for Kate). I enjoyed it immensely. Kaylee opined it only got better the second time.
Seriously, The Mary Sue has this "thing" about WW. It was an OK film and I saw it once. That ought to be enough.
+Laura Ess I agree that TMS is very gung-ho for the movie. That says, I think WW was a fine movie, and while I don't expect to see it again in the movie theaters, I wouldn't turn down the opportunity should it present itself.
+Dave Hill "Present itself"? Like someone buying you a ticket?
+Laura Ess A bunch of people saying, "Hey, we're going off to Wonder Woman, want to come?"
