Trump (once again) attacks people he thinks are being mean to him

Donald doesn’t seem to realize that …

… ranting on Twitter just lends more attention (and perhaps credence) to the charges against him.

… using hyperbole discredits his arguments for people who might be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt otherwise.

… attacking people who ought to be on his side (or at least be a force he can use), and publicly asserting that he will fix what he sees as broken with hem … just makes enemies that he can ill afford.

So pointing out that an ABC reporter made a serious misstatement? Yeah, that’s something one might reasonably note and complain about. Asserting it was a deliberate lie in order to discredit Trump, even though it could not have possibly stood up to scrutiny (as it did not)? That just makes him look petulant and paranoid. Framing it all as a conspiracy by ABC? That just gets into crazy talk.

Dragging his previous political opponent back into the field of attack? That just sounds banana republic.

Launching parallel attacks on the FBI over incompetence and deceit, and promising he will bring them “back” to greatness, seems counter-productive.

Is it all just poor PR from someone who thinks he’s the great deal-maker? Is it the frustrated misunderstanding of how government and politics work from the oligarch who assumes that his orders will be obeyed? Is it a sign of declining mental faculties? Is it an attempt to provide the proper narrative for that 20% of the American public who his remaining ever-more-rabid supporters?

I don’t know, but it’s just increasingly (if, probably, metaphorically) crazy.

In a Twitter tirade, the president issues a fresh denial that he tried to obstruct an FBI investigation.

  1. His gullible base eats this stuff up though. His consistent undermining of anything involved in seeking truth, with help from right wing media, has been unfortunately effective for those in the Republican filter bubble. If it's not straight from Trump's mouth or Breitbart and related propagandists, it must be from the left wing conspiracy!

  2. +Linda Tewes I knew it wouldn't be long before somebody caught you in a mistake. You don't research or know as much as you pretend because if you did then you would know what I'm about to say… James Comey, in his first draft statement on Hillary Clinton's private server emails with classified information, said Hillary was "grossly negligent" (carrying legal ramifications) yet in his official statement he changed the verbage to "extremely careless," thereby helping Hillary avoid legal ramifications. You're welcome. 😀

  3. Tony ain't the brightest bulb on the tree. Yes let's talk about Hillary and some ridiculous and unsubstantiated FBI conspiracy to pretend we don't have a con man president in early stages cognitive decline intent on fleecing us all.

  4. +Roberto Bayardo what a sad attempt to sweep the scandal under the rug. The rug has been pulled out from under you and you fell on your ass. We already know what Comey did with his statements. Because you choose not to believe it doesn't make it unsubstantiated. I hang out at the mall with Roy Moore hitting on pre teens?? Come back when you're all grown up and wanna debate instead of making ridiculous assumptions, like how I hit on underage girls.
