I think it probably started with Katherine’s falling in love with her Aloha Scooby-Doo movie — with maybe a priming dose of Lilo & Stitch.
Then we had the Hawaiian-based murder mystery that De did a month or so back. We got a bunch of party decor for it, did some costumes, etc. That’s when Kitten really got the luau fever.
So she decided she wanted a Hawaiian theme to her birthday party, which was cool because we could reuse the murder mystery decor (with a few extras). And on Sunday, when she was playing with her friends she borrowed some of that decor for her room, too.
And while she’s been talking in the past about her “new” room being painted in “Tinkerbell” colors — she now wants (in some fashion) a combination of “Tinkerbell” and “Luau” colors (whatever that means, especially since we’re talking about, at most, two colors plus white).
As Margie put it, at least we’ve gotten her to agree that the outside of her door can’t be purple.
