My phone desktop, and welcome to it

+Chris Ruhs suggested a sharing of "hey, what does your smartphone home screen look like?" shots.  So … here's mine.

It's a Motorola Razr Maxx, but I'm using Beautiful Widgets to create an HTC-style clock/weather.  Wallpaper is of my daughter and wife, and is much more visible on the other "side screens".

  1. First real wintery day here. Just in time for the in-laws to visit from California.

Love my 4G.  It even seems to work most of the time.

And I'm probably going to be changing this, having seen the clock/etc. icon package you use, +Chris Ruhs.

I should warn you that the widget I'm using, while based on Motorola's weather-clock, doesn't behave the same way and is a little hairy in the settings menu–but the results are worth it! You can set it to open different apps or settings when you press different places on the widget. I have mine set to open calendar when I touch the date, open alarms when I touch the clock, open weather when I touch the weather, open quick settings when I touch the battery meter, and open the widget's own settings when I touch the blank area on the right side of the widget.

    THAT CAN GET COMPLICATED!!

  3. The Beautiful Widgets clock/temp stuff has the same customizability, but setting the options is freaking awful (some options are in the app settings, some are in the theme settings, and others seem to move between one and the other just to spite you).

Once it's set, it's fine. Until then …

  4. I've always had a weakness for this particular clock widget, though. My grandmother had an alarm clock with this kind of flip number arrangement, and I can remember taking a nap on her bed, hearing the soft sound when it would advance, and thinking it was the Coolest Thing EVER.

    1. @Doyce – Most phones actually have a way to do it built-in. My Samsung tablet actually dedicates one of its every-screen buttons to it (annoyingly). My Moto Razr Maxx phone takes one by pressing the power and volume-down buttons simultaneously.

      Google is your friend. 🙂
