Slog between dimensions

Ran the Hero-side Pocket-D missions last night (starting a scosh late) with Amorpha, Mister Thorne, and BD’s Gasta Bas.
Death rode on our shoulders the entire way, and, unfortunately, was as busy pecking on our ears as anyone else’s.
Problems we had:

  1. There were three of us. Unbalanced. And because we’d started on Amorpha’s mission set, the only thing we could do is SK Mr. Thorne to her, and leave Gasta to hang back and spam heals. And, oh, yeah, die a lot from various Arachnos AoE and cone attacks.
  2. Mr. Thorne is way too squishy for all the aggro he draws.
  3. Though fighting at level 47, Mr. Thorne lacked the powers that would come between where he is (17) and there, including some added firepower for the Mercs and better buffs for his team. As a result, his contribution to combat was pitiful — mostly distractions and horribly slow healing.
So … tired … of that build.

  4. Amorpha had serious “invis” problems from the bad guys, which didn’t help her combat abilities any.

So the standard order of combat in the Arachnos part of the mission arc was …
… We suddenly realize GB has been taken down, along with one or two of the boys.
… The rest of the boys go down faster than I can recreate them.
… Mister Thorne goes down.
… Amorpha survives about half the time.
Mercifully, PocketD has its own healing areas, and plenty of chicklets to buy. It also has some super-buffs to sell, though they didn’t seem to help as much as we needed.
*sigh* Finished around 11. Thorne had dinged, Amorpha had gone up a pip, GB was still in debt.
Still have the villain mishes to do — and Amorpha’s already observed that 11 of her powers go “grey” when she exemps down to our level. Should be entertaining.

  1. Yep…
Puck teamed with Khaotica for this the other night for these missions. Puck functions well down to at least level 10.
And then Zot and Chaos Girl. Only to find out that Chaos girl is not slotted to function below her current level…very funny. Poor Chaos Girl was running on empty for endurance the entire time.

  2. Also…
From my observation point in the rear.
One of the things that kept going wrong was the Thorne was always well infront of his minions instead of behind them.
When things whould go wrong it would be because spiders would be in the back field picking off the minions faster than I could heal them…and Thorne would be unaware of this and have them targeted on something up front. So the little minions would go down one by one..and then the spiders would see me…and then pop.
Minions are a wall of agro you should not be in front of unless you are pulling.

  3. An accurate observation. Problem is, behind my boys I can’t see well. Esp. to do things like dropping tar patch and the like. Plus charging forward to heal A. That said, I tried to send the boys forward into the fray not infrequently.
That said, yeah, there’s a lot I need to still learn to do better with Mr. Thorne. Though I’m not feeling particularly motivated to do so.

  4. What…is he going to wake up and find himself in the Shower? ;P

  5. No, in one of the dance cages …
This particular episode conflicts with the Psi-Clone/Mr. Thorne/CoJ/CoI storyish kinda thing I have in mind. Unless I want to do a bunch of roleplaying beyond what I’m inclined to run right now. 🙂

  6. We first tried running this with three and it was brutal until Avo unexemped, sidekicked a villain, and mowed down every Thorn in the place. Unfortunately, I had to leave after the villain missions, and so didn’t get the badge for him.
Last night Bloodied Ravena and Cally ran them. I made several blunders, and was taken down twice. Cally nearly dropped once, but I managed to use the temp Healing power, which shot her bar instantly to full green! Not sure why you didn’t find it useful.
The roleplay with a whole mess of heroes and villains before the mission started out nicely, with Cally assuming that Vindicator was Vangarde (very amusing!), but when others showed up I got tired of the incessant, “Who are you? Why do you look like Van?” type of RP. It got old fast.

  7. You forgot to mention that we were running on invincible so everything was orange to purple even for me.

  8. I did the hero and villain missions from Ganymede and Scratch with Ulric’s brute villain the other night. We smashed it out pretty quick, even mine which were up at Unyielding we tromped through. I had the ‘dimension drops’ for healing and for acc/dam buff and was pretty impressed with them cross game.
The heal one was a full heal/full end recover when I used it on him, and the one time he used it on me I got the same effects. Our only really nasty fight was against the Council vamp boss since he didn’t really have any neg energy resists apparently.
Tried solo’ing DJ Zeros, but Snaptooth gets tougher each time you defeat him ( have to do it 5 times ) and I couldn’t solo him as an Elite Boss Red Cap. Don’t do enough damage fast enough, and his bleeding damage attack took me down pretty fast.
