{"id":111,"date":"2011-01-01T15:39:07","date_gmt":"2011-01-01T22:39:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/?p=111"},"modified":"2025-12-17T18:50:36","modified_gmt":"2025-12-18T01:50:36","slug":"sour-cream-coffee-cake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/sour-cream-coffee-cake.html","title":{"rendered":"Sour Cream Coffee Cake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\"><em>This has been THE Christmas morning coffee cake for years.\u00a0 It keeps several days and freezes.<br \/>\n<\/em><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Batter <\/span>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">1 c Butter (1\/2 #)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">1\u00bd\u00a0c Sugar<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">2 Eggs (3 for altitude)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">\u00bd pt Sour Cream\u00a0 (1 cup)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">2 c Flour<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">\u00bd\u00a0t Baking Soda<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">1\u00bd\u00a0t Baking Powder<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">1 t Vanilla<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Cinnamon Mixture Ingredients:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">\u00be\u00a0c Walnuts, finely chopped<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">2 t Cinnamon<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">2 T Sugar<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\"><strong>Instructions:<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Do not preheat oven!<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">Butter and flour a 9&#8243; tube pan or bundt pan (even if it is teflon)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">Combine butter, sugar, eggs\u00a0 beating until light and fluffy.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">Blend in sour cream.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">Sift flour with baking soda and powder into creamed mixture.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">Add vanilla.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">Blend well.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">Mix nuts, cinnamon, sugar.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">Sprinkle half the nut mixture in the pan.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">Spoon scant half the batter over nut mixture (dough will be very thick).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">Sprinkle remaining nut mixture on batter.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">Spoon remaining batter into pan.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">Place in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">cold<\/span> oven.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">Turn oven to 350\u00b0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">Bake 55 minutes&#8217;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">Invert on rack leaving pan on cake.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">Wait 15 minutes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\">Remove pan.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\"><strong>Serves: <\/strong>12-14<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14px;\"><strong>Source: <\/strong><em>Sunset Cook Book &#8211; Food with a Gourmet Touch,<\/em> 1960<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This has been THE Christmas morning coffee cake for years.\u00a0 It keeps several days and freezes.
