{"id":11357,"date":"2026-03-13T16:42:48","date_gmt":"2026-03-13T22:42:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/?p=11357"},"modified":"2026-03-13T16:43:30","modified_gmt":"2026-03-13T22:43:30","slug":"classic-wedge-salad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/classic-wedge-salad.html","title":{"rendered":"Classic Wedge Salad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>This is the One True Wedge Salad &#8211; Iceberg lettuce, Blue Cheese dressing topped with crumbled bacon, crumbled Blue Cheese, diced onion and diced tomato.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong>\u00a0 salad<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 small head iceberg lettuce<\/li>\n<li>8 slices bacon, cooked, cooled and crumbled<\/li>\n<li>1 cup diced tomato<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup red onion, chopped<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup crumbled Blue Cheese<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Cut the bacon into pieces and cook the bacon in a skillet until crisp.<\/li>\n<li>Remove to a plate lined with paper towels.<\/li>\n<li>Cut the iceberg lettuce in half.<\/li>\n<li>Cut each of the halves again in half or thirds (depending on how big the ice berg lettuce head is), to create &#8220;wedges&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>Place wedges on individual plates.<\/li>\n<li>To serve, spoon dressing over lettuce.<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle the bacon crumbles, tomatoes, onion and blue cheese crumbles on top.<\/li>\n<li>Season with fresh crushed black pepper, to taste.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong> Blue Cheese Dressing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 cup sour cream<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cup mayonnaise<\/li>\n<li>3 Tablespoons buttermilk<\/li>\n<li>3 teaspoons red wine vinegar<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd teaspoon Worcestershire sauce<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 teaspoon garlic salt<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, , or to taste<\/li>\n<li>4 ounces blue cheese, reserve a few spoonfuls for garnish.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Add all the dressing ingredients to a medium bowl.<\/li>\n<li>Stir well to combine.<\/li>\n<li>Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or can be made several days in advance.<strong>Serves:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong> 4<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Source:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>No cookbook would have anything as mundane as a Wedge Salad!\u00a0 This is what you find at most restaurants.\u00a0 Despite what you find on the internet, no restaurant salad ever had cherry tomatoes instead of diced.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is the One True Wedge Salad &#8211; Iceberg lettuce, Blue Cheese dressing topped with crumbled bacon, crumbled Blue Cheese, diced onion and diced tomato.
