{"id":1425,"date":"2015-01-30T05:34:00","date_gmt":"2015-01-30T12:34:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/?p=1425"},"modified":"2016-01-25T13:54:53","modified_gmt":"2016-01-25T20:54:53","slug":"gingerbread-bars-with-cream-cheese-icing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/gingerbread-bars-with-cream-cheese-icing.html","title":{"rendered":"Gingerbread Bars with Cream Cheese Icing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left\" align=\"CENTER\"><em>You always have to have something gingerbread at Christmas.<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><b>Ingredients:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 \u00bc c flour<\/li>\n<li>1 Tab ground ginger<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp ground cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc tsp baking soda<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>\u00be c butter (1 \u00bd sticks) softened<\/li>\n<li>1 \u00bc c sugar \u2013 divided use<\/li>\n<li>1 egg<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 c molasses<\/li>\n<li>3 Tab water<\/li>\n<li>1 pkg cream cheese (8 oz) softened<\/li>\n<li>2 tsp vanilla<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><b>Directions:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.<\/li>\n<li>Line 9&#215;13 pan with foil.<\/li>\n<li>Spray foil with no stick cooking spray.<\/li>\n<li>Mix flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda and salt in medium bowl.<\/li>\n<li>Beat butter and \u00be c sugar in large bowl until light and fluffy.<\/li>\n<li>Beat in egg until well blended.<\/li>\n<li>Gradually beat in flour mixture until well mixed.<\/li>\n<li>Stir in molasses and water just until blended.<\/li>\n<li>Spread evenly in prepared pan.<\/li>\n<li>Beat cream cheese in large bowl until smooth.<\/li>\n<li>Beat in remaining 1\/2 c sugar and vanilla until smooth.<\/li>\n<li>Remove 1\/3 cup icing. Refrigerate the rest.<\/li>\n<li>Spoon dollops (about1 teaspoon each) of the 1\/3 c of icing over batter.<\/li>\n<li>With a knife, swirl icing through batter to marbleize.<\/li>\n<li>Bake 30 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Cool in pan 15 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Lift out of pan using foil. Cool completely on wire rack.<\/li>\n<li>Invert and peel off foil.<\/li>\n<li>Spread refrigerated icing over the top.<\/li>\n<li>Cut into 60 pieces.
