{"id":1715,"date":"2015-03-02T14:11:07","date_gmt":"2015-03-02T21:11:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/?p=1715"},"modified":"2016-03-03T14:36:53","modified_gmt":"2016-03-03T21:36:53","slug":"soft-pretzels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/soft-pretzels.html","title":{"rendered":"Soft Pretzels"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left\" align=\"CENTER\"><em>Soft pretzels are a great variation on crackers as a thing to dip.<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><b>Ingredients: <\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>6 c flour<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc c sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>1 c instant nonfat dry milk<\/li>\n<li>1 pkg active dry years (2 \u00bc tsp)<\/li>\n<li>1 \u00bd c warm water (about 110\u00b0 \u2013 115\u00b0)<\/li>\n<li>2 eggs, beaten<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd c vegetable oil<\/li>\n<li>1 egg, beaten<\/li>\n<li>coarse salt<\/li>\n<li>extra flour<\/li>\n<li>Mustard Dip<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><b>Directions:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 400\u00b0.<\/li>\n<li>Stir together flour, sugar, salt, and instant nonfat dry milk.<\/li>\n<li>Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water in a large bow..<\/li>\n<li>Cover 2 large baking sheets with parchment.<\/li>\n<li>Blend together 2 eggs and oil.<\/li>\n<li>Add to yeast mixture,<\/li>\n<li>Add 5 cups of dry ingredients. Stir.<\/li>\n<li>Add enough of remaining dry mix to make a sticky dough.<\/li>\n<li>Turn onto flowered board and knead about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.<\/li>\n<li>Incorporated remaining dry mix and add flour as necessary to keep from sticking to board.<\/li>\n<li>Make dough into 18 \u2013 20 equal balls.<\/li>\n<li>Roll each ball into a 14 inch long rope.<\/li>\n<li>Twist ends together and turn back to make pretzel shape.<\/li>\n<li>Place on baking sheets.<\/li>\n<li>Brush tops with remaining egg and sprinkle with salt.<\/li>\n<li>Bake until golden, about 20 minutes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><b>Serves: <\/b> Makes 18 &#8211; 20<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><b>Source:<\/b> Donna Barasch, Orange County Cooking School<\/p>\n<p align=\"CENTER\"><b>Mustard Pretzel Dip<\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><b>Ingredients:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00bd c sour cream<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd c mayonnaise<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd c prepared mustard<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc c sugar<\/li>\n<li>2 Tab dried minced onion<\/li>\n<li>1 \u00bd Tab ranch salad dressing mix (\u00bd envelope)<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd Tab prepared horseradish<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><b>Directions:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In a large bowl, combine the ingredients.<\/li>\n<li>Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Serve with pretzels.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><b>Serves:<\/b> 2 cups.<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><b>Source:<\/b>Taste of Home 2014, Iola Egle, Bella Vista, Arkansas<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><b>Comment:<\/b> The dip will also go with the Pigs in a Sleeping Bag<\/p>\n<p align=\"CENTER\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Soft pretzels are a great variation on crackers as a thing to dip.
