Upping the pepper in the flour mixture makes it spicier.  As with most stews, it&#8217;s better the second day.<\/i><br \/>\n<b>Ingredients:<\/b><br \/>\n6 lbs. Chicken Breasts<br \/>\n&frac14; c Flour<br \/>\n2 tsp Salt<br \/>\n1\/8 tsp Pepper<br \/>\n6 tbsp Olive Oil<br \/>\n&#8212;<br \/>\n12 small Carrots, cut into strips<br \/>\n2 c Celery, cut diagonally<br \/>\n4 mdm Onions, cut in eights<br \/>\n6 cloves Garlic, minced<br \/>\n4 Green Peppers, chopped<br \/>\n2 lbs Stewed Tomatoes<br \/>\n2 c White Wine<br \/>\n1 tsp Basil, crushed<br \/>\n&frac12; Bay Leaf<br \/>\nSalt, to taste<br \/>\n<b>Directions:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>If using whole chicken, cut into serving pieces.\n<li>Combine flour, salt, pepper, and dredge chicken in mix.\n<li>Heat oil in Dutch Oven, and brown chicken.\n<li>Drain (leaving in little crispy bits), then add the rest of the ingredients.\n<li>Simmer 1-1&frac12; hours, until chicken is tender.<\/ol>\n<p>Serve over buttered noodles or rice.<br \/>\n<b>Prep Time<\/b>:  2 hrs.<br \/>\n<b>Servings<\/b>:  8<br \/>\n<b>Source<\/b>:  <i>LA Times<\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is an old favorite of Dave&#8217;s, and great for company.
