{"id":2408,"date":"2015-07-10T09:59:55","date_gmt":"2015-07-10T15:59:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/?p=2408"},"modified":"2017-08-24T15:43:17","modified_gmt":"2017-08-24T21:43:17","slug":"%ef%bb%bfbread-pudding-with-praline-sauce","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/%ef%bb%bfbread-pudding-with-praline-sauce.html","title":{"rendered":"\ufeffBread Pudding with Praline Sauce"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Not a diet dish, but delish!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><br \/>\n1\/4 cup butter, melted<br \/>\n2 cups half-and-half<br \/>\n2 cups milk<br \/>\n1 (1 pound) loaf soft French bread, torn\u00a0into small pieces<br \/>\n3 eggs, lightly beaten<br \/>\n3 cups white sugar<br \/>\n4 teaspoons vanilla extract<br \/>\n1 1\/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon<br \/>\n1\/4 cup raisins, or more to taste (optional)(could be chocolate chips &#8211; maybe?)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><br \/>\n1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).<br \/>\n2. Coat a 13&#215;9-inch baking dish with 1\/4 cup melted butter.<br \/>\n3. Pour half and half and milk over bread in a large mixing bowl.<br \/>\n4. Let soak for 10 minutes before gently stirring.<br \/>\n5. Stir eggs into the bread mixture until incorporated.<br \/>\n6. Add sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and raisins respectively, stirring each addition into the mixture before adding the next.<br \/>\n7. Spoon bread mixture into prepared baking dish.<br \/>\n8. Bake in preheated oven until bread mixture is firm and pudding-like, about 50 minutes.<br \/>\n<strong>Praline Sauce<\/strong><br \/>\n1\/2 pound unsalted butter<br \/>\n1 cup heavy cream<br \/>\n1 cup brown sugar<br \/>\n1\/2 cup chopped toasted pecans<\/p>\n<p><strong>Directions:<br \/>\n<\/strong>1. Stir 1\/2 pound unsalted butter, heavy cream, and brown sugar together in a heavy saucepan.<br \/>\n<span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">2. Bring to a boil.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">3. Reduce heat to\u00a0low.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">4. Stir pecans into the cream mixture, and simmer until the sugar is dissolved and the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.<br \/>\n<\/span>5.
