{"id":2525,"date":"2015-08-21T14:22:03","date_gmt":"2015-08-21T20:22:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/?p=2525"},"modified":"2015-08-21T14:23:45","modified_gmt":"2015-08-21T20:23:45","slug":"fire-and-ice-tomatoes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/fire-and-ice-tomatoes.html","title":{"rendered":"Fire and Ice Tomatoes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>This is a spicy salad to take to the\u00a0barbecue.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>6 large tomatoes, really ripe,\u00a0peeled and quartered (or 1\/8th if really large)<\/li>\n<li>1 large green pepper, sliced thinly<\/li>\n<li>1 red onion, sliced into rings<\/li>\n<li>1 cucumber, peeled and thin sliced into rings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Sauce:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/4 c vinegar<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 tsp celery salt<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 tsp mustard seed<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>4 1\/2 tsp sugar<\/li>\n<li>1\/8 tsp red pepper<\/li>\n<li>1\/8 tsp pepper<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 c cold water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Place sauce mixture over high and boil furiously, but only for one minute.<\/li>\n<li>While still hot, pour over tomatoes, green pepper and onions.<\/li>\n<li>Cool.<\/li>\n<li>Just before serving add cucumbers.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Serves: <\/strong>\u00a010 &#8211; 12 on a buffet<\/p>\n<p><strong>Source: \u00a0<\/strong>Gerrie Hastings<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a spicy salad to take to the\u00a0barbecue.
