{"id":2669,"date":"2015-09-21T14:56:37","date_gmt":"2015-09-21T20:56:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/?p=2669"},"modified":"2016-03-03T04:39:30","modified_gmt":"2016-03-03T11:39:30","slug":"cream-cheese-flan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/cream-cheese-flan.html","title":{"rendered":"Cream Cheese Flan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>This traditional dessert look more difficult that it is. \u00a0It is best served at room temperature.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredient:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 c milk<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 c sugar<\/li>\n<li>8 oz cream cheese<\/li>\n<li>6 eggs<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp vanilla (or rum extract)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Heat oven 350\u00b0.<\/li>\n<li>Heat milk until hot, but do not boil.<\/li>\n<li>Pour into blender container.<\/li>\n<li>Add 1\/2 c sugar and cream cheese.<\/li>\n<li>In a separate bowl beat the eggs and vanilla.<\/li>\n<li>Add 12 c milk mixture. \u00a0Then pour egg mixture into blender.<\/li>\n<li>Blend at low speed until thoroughly mixed.<\/li>\n<li>Heat remaining 1 cup of sugar over medium-low heat until liquefied and medium amber in color, stirring occasionally.<\/li>\n<li>Coat the bottom of an 8 inch cake pan with caramel (melted sugar).<\/li>\n<li>Pour cream cheese mixture into pan.<\/li>\n<li>Set in\u00a0another pan of hot\u00a0water at least 3\u00a0inches deep.<\/li>\n<li>Place on middle rack of oven and bake 40-50 minutes or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean.<\/li>\n<li>Remove from water bath.<\/li>\n<li>Cool<\/li>\n<li>Turn out onto serving plate.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Serves: \u00a0<\/strong>8<\/p>\n<p>Source: \u00a0Mardi Gras restaurant, Long Beach (long gone!)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This traditional dessert look more difficult that it is. \u00a0It is best served at room temperature.
