{"id":283,"date":"2011-09-16T15:04:28","date_gmt":"2011-09-16T21:04:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/?p=283"},"modified":"2016-05-18T11:15:53","modified_gmt":"2016-05-18T17:15:53","slug":"caipirtweenha","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/caipirtweenha.html","title":{"rendered":"Caipirtweenha"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>This is a &#8220;tween&#8221;\/teen &#8220;virgin&#8221; version of the <a href=\"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/caipirinha.html\">Caipirinha<\/a>. \u00a0I invented it to serve our (at the time) 11-year-old daughter whilst Margie and I were drinking the boozy version.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Ingredients<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 oz Club Soda<\/li>\n<li>1 Lime<\/li>\n<li>2 tbsp Ultrafine (Baker&#8217;s) Sugar (or Simple Syrup equivalent) (see notes)<\/li>\n<li>Liberal Splash of Sprite (or similar lemon-lime soda).<\/li>\n<li>Crushed ice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Instructions<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Take a lime, cut it in half lengthwise, remove the white pith in the center.<\/li>\n<li>Cut the lime half in half lengthwise, then cut laterally into four smaller wedges.<\/li>\n<li>Put lime wedges in a lowball (&#8220;rocks&#8221; or &#8220;old-fashioned&#8221;) glass<\/li>\n<li>Add sugar.<\/li>\n<li>Muddle the lime and sugar. \u00a0Get as much juice out of the limes as you can without squeezing the bitter oils out of the rind.<\/li>\n<li>Fill the glass with crushed ice.<\/li>\n<li>Fill the glass with club soda (should be roughly 2 oz.).<\/li>\n<li>Add a splash of Sprite<\/li>\n<li>Mix well (ideally, use a larger glass or shaker over the top and shake well).<\/li>\n<li>Garnish with lime slice (optional).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Notes<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It&#8217;s pronounced &#8220;cuy-per-tween-ya.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>The amount of sugar is somewhat to taste. \u00a0Various recipes call for 1-3 tbsp. Simple syrup can be used, but part of the fun in a Caipirtweenha is a bit of unmuddled sugar at the bottom of the glass.<\/li>\n<li>Some folks swear by lime slices instead of wedges.<\/li>\n<li>For\u00a0refills, I add a half-lime (since there&#8217;s usually plenty of juice left in the remainders) and another tbsp of sugar (ditto), muddle in the existing glass, then follow the rest of the recipe (club soda, liquor, Sprite).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>Source<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Dave the Hubby invented this.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a &#8220;tween&#8221;\/teen &#8220;virgin&#8221; version of the Caipirinha. \u00a0I invented it to serve our (at the time) 11-year-old daughter whilst Margie and I were drinking the boozy version.
