{"id":360,"date":"2013-02-01T17:50:16","date_gmt":"2013-02-02T00:50:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/?p=360"},"modified":"2016-05-18T15:50:07","modified_gmt":"2016-05-18T21:50:07","slug":"blood-orange-gel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/margie\/blood-orange-gel.html","title":{"rendered":"Blood Orange Gel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Kim\u00a0 Alter of Haven in Oakland made this sauce to accent her Smoked Forbidden Rice.\u00a0 It can be made with any citrus and on just about anything from chicken and fish to desserts. \u00a0(4\/11\/15 Just had a drink called a Golden Dragon at the new dumpling restaurant\u00a0Din Tai Fung\u00a0in South Coast Plaza &#8211; wow! bourbon, blood orange liquor and a hint of ginger. \u00a0Sounds\u00a0weird\u00a0but it works.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 blood oranges, whole<\/li>\n<li>1 c water<\/li>\n<li>1 cup sugar<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Instructions: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. Place the oranges in a pot of cold water.<br \/>\n2. Bring up to boil, and let the oranges simmer for about 5 minutes.<br \/>\n3. Strain the oranges and place them back in the pot with cold water.<br \/>\n4. Bring to a boil and repeat one more time.<br \/>\n5. On the third time, combine the sugar and water, making a simple syrup.\u00a0 Bring it to a boil.<br \/>\n6. Add the oranges and let simmer for about 15 minutes.<br \/>\n7. Remove the oranges from the simple syrup.<br \/>\n8. Then place the whole oranges in a blender. (Yes, the whole orange &#8211; seeds and all)\u00a0 and blend until smooth.<br \/>\n9. Add simple syrup to get the right consistency and sweetness.<br \/>\n10.
