There is also powdered buttermilk in the store.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 bag of broccoli florets<\/li>\n<li>1 bag broccoli slaw mix<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup thinly sliced almonds, toasted<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup dried cranberries<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 small red onion, finely chopped<\/li>\n<li>Buttermilk Dressing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Trim broccoli and cut it into small chunks. \u00a0You can include the stems too.<\/li>\n<li>Toss the chopped broccoli and slaw mix with the almonds, cranberries and red onion in a large bowl.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Ingredients &#8211; Buttermilk Dressing<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/2 cup buttermilk, well-shaken<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup mayonnaise (this is more than is in the original, to thicken the dressing further)<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons cider vinegar<\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon sugar<\/li>\n<li>3 tablespoons finely chopped red onion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions &#8211; Buttermilk Dressing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mix the dressing ingredients in a jar with a lid, with a good pinch of salt and black pepper.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To serve:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Pour the dressing over the broccoli and toss it well.<\/li>\n<li>Season well with salt and pepper to taste.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Serves: \u00a0<\/strong>Makes about six cups of slaw<\/p>\n<p><strong>Source: \u00a0<\/strong>Smitten Kitchen<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When you are camping for four days, the salad for the last night needs to be pretty sturdy and non &#8220;wilty&#8221;. \u00a0Broccoli is a good choice. \u00a0The dressing can be made quickly in a jar. \u00a0I have frozen butter milk, but it become very thin.
