Use raisin bread, egg bread, French bread or sour dough bread.\u00a0 Add a dash of Amaretto or Grand Mariner (with some orange zest or orange juice).\u00a0 \u00a0You can even add chopped semi-sweet chocolate.\u00a0 Change it up with a topping of slivered almonds or chopped pecans.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>4 eggs<\/li>\n<li>2\/3 c milk or 1\/2 and half, or cream<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 c sugar<\/li>\n<li>2 tsp of vanilla or almond extract, cinnamon or allspice<\/li>\n<li>8 thick slices of 2-day-old bread\u00a0(better if slightly stale)<\/li>\n<li>Butter (can sub vegetable oil, but you know butter is better!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk(1\/2 and 1\/2, cream), and flavoring (cinnamon etc.).<\/li>\n<li>Whisk the mixture\u00a0until well blended.<\/li>\n<li>Pour into a shallow bowl, wide enough to place a slice\u00a0of the bread you will be using.<\/li>\n<li>Melt some butter in a large skillet over medium high heat.<\/li>\n<li>Place each slice of bread into the milk egg mixture, allowing the bread to soak in some of it.<\/li>\n<li>Shake off the excess.<\/li>\n<li>Place the bread slices onto the hot skillet.<\/li>\n<li>Fry the French toast until browned on one side, then flip and brown the other side.<\/li>\n<li>Serve hot with butter, maple syrup,whipped cream, powdered sugar and\/or fresh berries.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Yield:<\/strong>\u00a0Serves 4<\/p>\n<p><strong>Source:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Simply Recipes<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Have fun with this!!
